Katharine Lister is the Director of Worldwide Customer Trust External Relations at Amazon. Her team builds partnerships and initiatives to help stakeholders understand how Amazon delivers a trustworthy shopping experience using customer-focused tools. They provide innovative solutions to help Amazon teams rapidly scale protections for customers, brands, and sellers against fraud and abuse. Her team also engages with governments, regulators, media, brands, consumer groups, academics, and others regarding Amazon's work leveraging technology to strengthen consumer protections.
Katharine has over 20 years of experience in public affairs, communications, government relations, and product management across non-profits and Fortune 500 companies in various sectors. Prior to the private sector, she held high-ranking U.S. government positions including Deputy Chief of Staff at the Department of Commerce under President Obama, Chief of Staff to Senator Maria Cantwell, and senior advisor roles in the Senate and House of Representatives. Her policy experience includes global competitiveness, trade, innovation, data privacy, cybersecurity, and intellectual property rights.
In her current role at Amazon, Katharine is dedicated to using advanced technology to protect customers and sellers from fraud while driving innovation at scale. Outside of work, she enjoys art, opera, urban farming, hiking, and reluctantly, running.
