Profile
STEVE MISTER, Esq. has been President & CEO of the Council for Responsible Nutrition (CRN), the leading trade association for the dietary supplement and functional food industry, since 2005. Under his leadership, CRN has been a zealous advocate for increased acceptance of the essential role dietary supplements and functional foods play promoting nutrition and preserving better health. During his tenure, CRN has successfully supported mandatory adverse event reporting, facility registration, and restrictions on anabolic steroids, while defeating legislation that would impose burdensome or unnecessary requirements on industry. It has been at the forefront of advocating on behalf of the supplement industry at the international, federal, and state levels, widely recognized as the most credible and trustworthy voice of the industry.
CRN has transformed the industry with successful self-regulatory initiatives like the Supplement OWL and a self-regulatory advertising review program with the CBBBs. The association has conducted consumer education programs like Life…supplemented, Probiotics: What’s Inside is Alive, and Vitamin D & Me. CRN recently released an economic report demonstrating healthcare cost savings from the targeted use of supplements.
