Profile
Steve Mister, Esq., CAE, has served as the President & CEO of the Council for Responsible Nutrition (CRN) since 2005. Under his leadership, CRN, the leading trade association for the dietary supplement industry, has seen consistent membership growth, served as the credible voice of the industry, led it members in a variety of self-regulatory programs, and spearheaded significant legislative and regulatory successes. These include the enactment of the adverse event reporting law and the Designer Anabolic Steroid Control Act, alongside defeating legislative challenges that threatened consumer access to supplements.
Mr. Mister’s commitment to the industry extends to the CRN Foundation, where, as President, he has driven vital consumer education and self-regulatory initiatives. Notable among these are the successful 'Life...supplemented' consumer education campaign and partnerships with the National Advertising Division to oversee supplement advertising, alongside producing influential economic reports on healthcare savings. The Foundation launched the Supplement OWL, an innovative online registry documenting dietary supplements and their labels, to enhance industry transparency.
Previously, Mr. Mister honed his expertise at the Consumer Healthcare Products Association (CHPA) as Vice President and Associate General Counsel. He also practiced law at Wiley, Rein & Fielding in Washington, D.C., and worked on Capitol Hill as a media relations assistant for U.S. Senator Charles McC. Mathias, Jr.
In addition to his role at CRN, Mr. Mister was vice chair of the International Alliance of Dietary Supplement Associations from 2018 to 2022.
