Loree Sutton is a lifelong public servant and community advocate. As the US Army’s highest-ranking psychiatrist and founding commissioner of NYC’s Department of Veterans’ Services, Dr. Sutton has devoted over 40 years of service and leadership to the nation. Her decorated military career includes
earning a Bronze Star for her actions in combat while deployed in support of Operation Desert Storm (ODS).
Selected as a White House Fellow and honored by the National War College as a distinguished graduate, she also commanded the Carl R. Darnall Army Medical Center at Fort Hood, Texas during the height of Operation Iraqi Freedom (OIF) hostilities.
Appointed as a faculty member at the Uniformed Services University for the Health Sciences (Department of Psychiatry) and founding director, Defense Centers of Excellence for Psychological Health and Traumatic Brain Injury, Dr. Sutton has led, designed, and pioneered integrative approaches for building resilience, enhancing recovery and fostering community reintegration. Her current focus is on accelerating relevant research and clinical dissemination of breakthrough approaches to treating PTSD.
